About Jade Eckardt

Jade Eckardt is a freelance writer, editor, and photographer. Her written work covers a diverse range of topics, but she focuses particularly within the fields of travel, social justice, food, culture, and the environment.

 

Her work has been published online and in numerous regional and national magazines and newspapers. She has reported on President Obama from the White House motorcade for Reuters, served as editor at several newspapers, written national park audio-tour scripts, and is the author of Moon Kaua'i.

 

Her photography has been published along with much of her digital and print work.

Jade was raised on the Big Island of Hawai'i and lived on Oahu's North Shore for over a decade. She currently divides her time between Hawai'i and New York, fishing and surfing with her son wherever they go. Together, they travel as much as possible searching for good waves, good food, and good people. 

 

She holds a BA in anthropology from the University of Hawai'i.
